Created by Kristy Quirk, Surf Dancing introduced a new way of experiencing the ocean — combining surfing with movement, rhythm, and creative expression.
Developed in Noosa, it quickly became recognised as a unique and innovative approach to surf education, setting it apart from traditional surf schools.
OUR STORY
Over Two Decades in the Water
For more than 20 years, Surfdancer operated on Noosa’s beaches, delivering structured surf programs to thousands of participants through schools, community groups, and private sessions.
The program became a consistent presence in the region, with local schools returning year after year and families growing up with it as part of their coastal lifestyle. It built a reputation for being trusted, professional, and deeply connected to the local community.
For over 20 years, Surf Dancers were a familiar and much-loved presence on Noosa’s beaches — regularly seen dancing across the waves, welcomed by both locals and visitors alike.
THE COMMUNITY
The Locals Surf School
Known as “the locals surf school”, Surfdancer focused on serving the Noosa community — including children, families, schools, and special interest groups.
The emphasis extended beyond learning to surf. Programs were designed to build confidence in the ocean, develop awareness of conditions, and create a safe, supportive environment where people could grow their skills over time.
